Pachuca municipality

Rosario Mine

This site was fundamental for the productive continuity of this region; the rich veins found in this mine not only placed the district as the second national silver producer during the second half of the 19th century,  but they provided as well the necessary economic resources to continue using steam power and, by the beginning of the 20th century, to introduce electric power.

However, as time passed, mining production decreased and this mine was gradually abandoned. This place is located at the south area of Pachuca, close to the road to Real del Monte and it can only be observed from the exterior.

El Álamo Mine

This mine stopped its production and closed its doors in 1993, however, the patrimonial legacy that this place has in its interior is extremely rich. It is one of the best preserved examples of the arrival of ¨modernity¨ to the mines by the beginning of the 20th century.

The mine is located on Rojo Gómez road in Pachuca. To visit it (only its surface) it is necessary to have a group of interested persons and contact AHMMAC staff.

San Juan Mine

This is the most emblematic mine of Pachuca during the last 150 years for several reasons: its important production, it was a drainage center, and after the second decade of the 20th century, this mine was the main centralization place for mineral extracted in the different mines of Pachuca, Real del Monte, El Chico and El Cerezo.

This mine is located at San Juan Pachuca district, at the north area of the capital; this district has a lookout point and from this place the mine, Loreto processing plant and a great extension of the city can be observed.

San Pedro La Rabia Mine

This mine and Corteza are the only ones in Pachuca which still have Cornish engine houses. This mine is located at the ravine of the same name and because currently several families occupy it, it is not open to visitors, but it can be observed from the exterior even at a great distance.

Corteza Mine

This mine is located at the old Pachuca - Real del Monte beltway, and it can only be observed from the exterior.
